Avoid caffeine and diuretics for 24 hours before your scan to ensure accurate results. You’ll receive an injection of Lasix during the scan.
The scan itself involves lying still on a table while a special camera takes images of your kidneys. The process usually takes about 1-2 hours, and you may feel a slight pinch from the injection.
| Preparation | Fasting is usually not required, but follow your doctor’s specific instructions. Inform your doctor about any allergies or medical conditions. |
| Process | You’ll receive an intravenous injection of Lasix. The technologist will position you for optimal image capture. You’ll need to remain still during image acquisition. |
| Post-Scan | You can resume normal activities immediately after the scan. Drink plenty of fluids to help flush out the Lasix. Your doctor will review the results and discuss them with you. |
Expect mild bruising or soreness at the injection site. Contact your doctor if you experience any unusual symptoms like prolonged pain or swelling.
