The Procedure: Preparation, Process, and Post-Scan Care

Avoid caffeine and diuretics for 24 hours before your scan to ensure accurate results. You’ll receive an injection of Lasix during the scan.

The scan itself involves lying still on a table while a special camera takes images of your kidneys. The process usually takes about 1-2 hours, and you may feel a slight pinch from the injection.

Stage Details
Preparation Fasting is usually not required, but follow your doctor’s specific instructions. Inform your doctor about any allergies or medical conditions.
Process You’ll receive an intravenous injection of Lasix. The technologist will position you for optimal image capture. You’ll need to remain still during image acquisition.
Post-Scan You can resume normal activities immediately after the scan. Drink plenty of fluids to help flush out the Lasix. Your doctor will review the results and discuss them with you.

Expect mild bruising or soreness at the injection site. Contact your doctor if you experience any unusual symptoms like prolonged pain or swelling.
