Drug Interactions with Vardenafil: What to Avoid

Avoid nitrates in any form, including nitroglycerin, isosorbide mononitrate, and isosorbide dinitrate. Combining these with vardenafil can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure.

Don’t use vardenafil with alpha-blockers, often prescribed for high blood pressure or enlarged prostate, without your doctor’s careful supervision. The combination can significantly lower blood pressure.

Be cautious with other erectile dysfunction medications, like sildenafil or tadalafil. Using them concurrently with vardenafil is risky and may lead to severe side effects.

Certain antifungals, particularly ketoconazole and itraconazole, can increase vardenafil levels in your blood, potentially increasing side effects. Discuss this with your doctor before combining medications.

Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors, like ritonavir and some HIV medications, can raise vardenafil concentrations. Your doctor might need to adjust your vardenafil dose or choose an alternative.

Grapefruit juice inhibits the metabolism of vardenafil, increasing its concentration in the body. Limit or avoid grapefruit juice while taking this medication.

Always inform your doctor and pharmacist about all medications, supplements, and herbal remedies you are taking. This allows for safe medication management and prevents potential interactions.
